UNBLOCKED FOR LEADERS

When the problem is not a skill deficit.

A focused 10-week private intervention for experienced leaders whose effectiveness is being constrained by a recurring decision, behavioral, relational, or operating pattern.

Unblocked is designed for situations where a capable leader already knows what good leadership looks like, but something continues to interfere with consistently acting from that knowledge.

Different problems require different interventions

Training is useful when someone does not yet know how.

Consulting is useful when specialist expertise is missing.

Mentoring is useful when experience needs to be transferred.

Unblocked becomes relevant when the knowledge and capability are already present, but a recurring human pattern continues to interfere with leadership effectiveness.

That distinction prevents organizations from treating every leadership problem as a skills problem.

Where Unblocked can be useful

  • A strong executive repeatedly struggles to delegate as scope increases.
  • A founder must transition from primary operator to organizational leader.
  • A recurring relationship or conflict pattern is affecting the leadership team.
  • A senior leader is avoiding or cycling around a consequential decision.
  • An executive is navigating succession, exit, promotion, role change, or identity transition.
  • A capable leader remains effective externally while the operating cost is becoming unsustainable.
  • Coaching or training has created insight but the underlying behavior continues to recur.
  • An investor or board sees that the next stage of organizational performance depends partly on the founder or leader changing how they operate.

How a sponsored engagement works

Step 1

Sponsor alignment

Before the engagement begins, Oscar, the participant, and the organizational sponsor agree on the reason for the engagement and a small number of observable leadership outcomes.

Step 2

Private 10-week intervention

The work with the participant remains private. The company does not receive session notes or confidential personal content.

Step 3

Optional midpoint alignment

Where appropriate, a midpoint conversation can assess progress against the agreed observable outcomes without disclosing confidential session content.

Step 4

Closeout and integration

The engagement concludes with reflection on observable changes, ongoing leadership considerations, and any organizational conditions that may support or undermine continued progress.

Confidentiality is part of the architecture

A sponsored engagement only works if the participant can speak freely.

The organization may define the business or leadership reason for the engagement and the observable outcomes it hopes to support.

The content of private sessions remains confidential.

Any information shared with a sponsor is agreed in advance with the participant and focuses on progress against the engagement objectives rather than personal session content.

Multi-leader or portfolio engagements can be structured separately where appropriate.

Appropriate scope matters

Unblocked is not performance-management outsourcing, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, or specialist business consulting.

It is appropriate when a functioning, capable leader is facing a recurring human pattern that is materially affecting leadership, decisions, relationships, transition, or performance.

If the issue is principally clinical, disciplinary, technical, or organizational rather than individual, a different intervention should be used.
